Hornet Security (formerly Altaro Backup) uses an admin control panel to manage licenses, installations and monitor backups.  We recently has an issue where some tenant CMC connections were severed and the backup stopped running, due to failure to contact the licensing server in the CMC.

The error appeared to display: “This installation is disconnected from the Control Panel. Any data shown for this installation may not be up to date”

Speaking with Altaro support, I was asked to remove and re-link the installation. This got the backup software working again but the CMC continued to fail registration.

After checking the firewall logs, the software was attempting communicate with an IP address in Germany which was blocked by our Geo-IP filter. After creating a whitelist of the IP address, the CMC registered.
